چکیده
Adelosgryllus rubricephalus, a new genus and species of phalangopsid cricket are described. Illustrations of male and female specimens as well as descriptions of phallic sclerites, chromosomes and geographical known distribution are furnished. A discussion on the species taxonomic status of this cricket within the family is also included.

SYSTEMATICS, MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY Cytogenetics Studies in Thirteen Brazilian Species of Phaneropterinae (Orthoptera: Tettigonioidea: Tettigoniidae): Main Evolutive Trends Based on their Karyological Traits
The thirteen species of Phaneropterinae here studied can be arranged in four different groups according to their basic karyological traits. All of them share the same kind of chromosomal sex determining mechanism with X0♂ and XX♀. The X chromosome differs among species and always appears heteropycnotic during prophase I, it is the largest in the set and segregates precociously during anaphase I...
متن کاملThe complex stridulatory behavior of the cricket Eneoptera guyanensis Chopard (Orthoptera: Grylloidea: Eneopterinae).
Crickets produce stridulated sounds by rubbing their forewings together. The calling song of the cricket species Eneoptera guyanensis Chopard, 1931 alternates two song sections, at low and high dominant frequencies, corresponding to two distinct sections of the stridulatory file. In the present study we address the complex acoustic behavior of E. guyanensis by integrating information on the pec...
متن کاملSYSTEMATICS, MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY Cytogenetics Studies in Brazilian Species of Pseudophyllinae (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae): 2n(♂)=35 and FN=35 the Probable Basic and Ancestral Karyotype of the Family Tettigoniidae
The karyotypes of fi ve species of Brazilian Pseudophyllinae belonging to four tribes were here studied. The data available in the literature altogether with those obtained with species in here studied allowed us to infer that 2n(♂)=35 is the highest chromosome number found in the family Tettigoniidae and that it is present in species belonging to Pseudophyllinae, Zaprochilinae and in one speci...
متن کاملSYSTEMATICS, MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY Morphological and Molecular Characterization of Three Species of Anastrepha Schiner and of Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae)
Four species of Tephritoidea, three from genus Anastrepha: A. obliqua (Macquart), A. sororcula Zucchi and A. serpentina (Wiedemann), and one from genus Ceratitis, C. capitata (Wiedemann) were compared based on puparium morphology and application of the Heteroduplex Mobility Assay (HMA). Puparia were characterized for the first time using the spiracular posterior plate morphology. Application of...

In the present study, the morphology, color pattern, chromosomal complement and aspects of meiosis in natural populations at the borders of the distributions of Mepraia gajardoi Frías et al and Mepraia spinolai (Porter) are described. The males of these bordering populations are brachypterous or macropterous, while females are always micropterous. Morphological and cytogenetic data indicated th...
